Roofing 101 For Facility Managers:

This presentation will familiarize you with the most common roof types used for commercial low slope/flat roof applications. We will also discuss what causes roofs to leak and how to prevent leaks from occurring. This will be followed up with a brief discussion of roof warranties.

 You will gain an understanding of:

    • Identify the most common low slope roof types including their pros & cons, roof life cycles, and what makes up each system. Touch on the current trends in roofing today.
    • The most common leak sources: What causes them and how to be proactive in avoiding them.
    • Define the difference between the most common roof system warranties. (Material, Workmanship, NDL)

Curtis Hunt

Curtis is a Kansas City Native. He graduated from Mizzou in 1999 and has been in commercial roofing since 2009. Curtis spent 4 years with RoofConnect as a national accounts manager for large contractor group. He has spent the last 10 years with GAF as the Territory Manager for KS/MO.


Cheyenne Farmer

Cheynne went to Missouri State University until she received her insurance license. She moved to Kansas City 2 years ago & fell into the roofing industry through KC Chief of Staff. She has been with SHC Roofing for 1 1/2 years as their Client Success Partner. She has a passion for introducing students into the trades industry.


Nate King

Nate got his start in the construction industry while in college working as a framer & remodeler. He has worked in or around the construction industry for most of his career. He's been in roofing for 11 years. Nate now runs the production and estimating operations at SHC Roofing.
